Ski Touring Bernese Oberland - Course Summary (6 Days Starting and Finishing in Grindelwald)

This incredible area offers the greatest variety of touring anywhere in the high alps. Starting in Grindelwald at the foot of the famous Eiger the tour traverses the largest glaciers in the Western Alps to finish in the Rhone valley 5 days later. En route we have the opportunity to climb a number of peaks depending on the weather and conditions.


Ski Touring Bernese Oberland - Sample Program

Day 1 Meet in Grindelwald in the afternoon and check equipment.
Day 2 We take the incredible mountain train through the Eiger and the Monch to the Jungfrau from there we descend to the Koncordia hut.
Day 3 Ascent of the Kranzberg **m and back to the Koncordia hut.
Day 4 We cross the Grunhornlucke and climb the Wysnollen 3595m before descending to the Finsteraarhorn hut.
Day 5 We climb the Gross Wannenhorn 3905m which usually holds the snow well enabling us to enjoy a great ski back down before continuing to the Oberaajochhutte.
Day 6 Normally we climb the Vorder Galmihorn before a long descent to Reckingen in the Rhone valley where the trip finishes. From here it easy to return to Grindelwald by train.

 

Pre-Requisites

  • Participants on this course must have a good level of fitness and should be comfortable off-piste skiers. Some experience of touring experience is also required. Some of the days are long and skiers need to have enough energy to tour and then ski for long periods.

  • £1095.00 per person
  • Minimum group size - 4
  • Maximum group size - 6.

  • Half board accommodation in mountain huts * 4 nights
